So hey...wanted to chime in here. First off, betterhelp is a scam, don't do it. You're better off going the traditional route and finding a therapist you see face to face (or facetime, because covid).
Second...it takes time to find a therapist you click with. I went through 4 of them when I was living in Montana until I finally found one who I clicked with. And yeah, there's a bit of talky talk. But you gotta put yourself out there and touch on the tough stuff. If you don't let your therapist know what you're trying to work on, they won't know how to guide you (and again, this is down to communication and if you and the therapist vibe)
as to not being able to pull the trigger and actually DO the work of finding and then going to a therapist...that is unsurprisingly what happens to MOST people with depression. I found that it helps to enlist a friend that will hold you accountable. Let them know you're looking, and then have them follow up with you. Once you've found one, let them know you're going to make an appointment...and have them follow up with you. Same with actually going to the appointment. If I hadn't enlisted help to be help accountable, I don't think I ever would have actually gone.
Just some tips from one depressive to another. Love you, and hope you get (and enlist) help you need!
