It’s 4am when I start this, and I’m drinking a cup of coffee and eating Pizza Rolls that I made in my air fryer. The air fryer was a highlight of this year. I wanted poutine for my birthday so Tiffany got me an air fryer to make some. It’s this level of thoughtful recognition that makes screwing up her birthday extra stupid.
What else worked out this year? I’m sitting here thinking, and I’m coming up with next to nothing. There are a few things that stick out.
WASHINGTON DC
On January 6th, 2021, a bunch of white trash weirdos unleashed violent white privilege all over the nation’s capitol in an attempt to overthrow the 245 year old Way that Shit Gets Done.
On January 20th, 2021, Biden was sworn in as President of the United States … and Bernie went to watch.
COVID 19
We got vaccines, and had about two months of optimism before that bit us in the ass (and not in that good Las Vegas kind of way)
Went from Delta to Omicron. The COVidiots went from selfish to dumb and selfish. We had riots across the country and, giving the Devil his due, all over the world. Hospitals are still overwhelmed with people that “know too much” to get a vaccine, and then run to the same doctors they disparaged to get medical help when Covid kicks their ass.
We lost a bunch of anti-vax regional right wing radio dipshits all across the country, too. Honestly, while I wont celebrate their deaths, I most certainly will not feel bad about them dying. Darwin finds a way.
SCIENCE
We got the James Webb Telescope off the ground, and once we’re into 2022 a bit, it’ll start changing the way we think about the universe, from origin, to now. It’s going to be amazing. Mind-blowing, even. Yet … flat-earthers still exist. Le Sigh.
We found out that the Arctic Ocean is full of microplastics, that cows fed seaweed emit lesser amounts of methane, and that we can stick a pig kidney in a person and keep it from getting rejected.
We also have anti-vaxers that think taking a vaccine will make you magnetic, that Bill Gates is putting tracking micro-chips in medicine (did they read that on their cell phones, ya think?), and that copper is magic.
For every forward step, we have at least a 3k race in the opposite direction.
POLITICS
Joe Manchin - ruined everything for everyone not white, rich, and the parent of a pharmaceutical executive, or a coal mine owner.
Kyrsten Sinema - took Voter’s Remorse to a new level as she discovered how much she loves filthy right wing donor money.
Matt Gaetz - is still, somehow, not in fucking jail for child sex trafficking and statutory rape. WTF, Garland?
Kevin McCarthy - is still an idiot with no moral compass.
Chuck Schumer - Secretly signed a deal with Manchin to sink the Build Back Better bill … and kept it a secret, basically screwing every other Democrat, and, frankly, the whole country in the process, all to keep a yacht living, coal bought multi-millionaire happy.
Louie Gohmert - Quitting Congress to run for AG of Texas.
You know what? I have a year of shows at www.theleftshow.com if you want more on 2021 politics. 9 more years if you want something older.
LIFE SHIT
Still a shit show. Still have the denial of visitation problem that keeps my kids from being able to visit my place without being cut-off and punished, threatened, and yelled at. Still not divorced, but close. Still a diabetic. Still fat. Still tired.
My kids continue to be awesome. Independent little free-thinkers, sarcastic and vitriolic. Animated meat sacks packed full of awesome.
Tiffany continues to make be feel like I’m worth something, which is a huge task that she performs without complaint. Superhuman.
THE NETWORK
Fund raising fell flat. A statistical blip. Want to help? www.theleftshow.com has links. We need it for The LEFT Show and The World’s Greatest Comic Book Podcast to keep recording.
UTAH WEED
Never have so many (patients) spent so much (money) on so little (shitty, expensive, substandard product).
TOO MUCH
This is getting long. There’s so much goofy shit to complain about this year. I’m sure I’ll bring up more, as this is totally not at all comprehensive. So, I’ll leave it all to other, subsequent blog entries - newsletters.
Happy New Year, folks. I hope it’s not as bad as it feels like it’s going to be. You have homework this year. Register two new voters, and make sure they get out to vote in November. It doesn’t matter where you live, or how red your state is, voting matters, especially in local races.
